Cigar Toys: A New Cutter from Xikar
That's pronounced "sy-car," and it's a year-old company out of Shawnee, Kansas, not a pitstop on the voyage of the Starship Enterprise. Xikar's Xi cutter, however, definitely looks a bit alien (in a good way). A teardrop-shaped, spring-loaded take on the classic double guillotine, the stainless steel blades flare out dramatically at the push of a button, allowing the smoker to open, snip a cigar with up to a 52 ring gauge, and close in a few swift movements. If the self-sharpening blades dull over time, Xikar will sharpen them and return the cutter within 10 days, says company president Kurt Van Keppel. Available in gold, bronze, black and silver, the Xi is available for a suggested retail price of $59 at more than 300 tobacconists nationwide.
